Project 10mTOR inhibitors and wound complications or lymphocele formationThe use of mTOR inhibitors, sirolimus and everolimus, in solid organ transplant patients has often been associated with poor wound healing and the formation of lymphoceles after kidney transplantation. We have systematically reviewed the literature to compare these outcomes for solid organ transplant patients receiving mTOR inhibitors versus patients who did not receive these drugs. Wound complications included any indication of impaired wound healing such as wound dehiscence, hematoma, inflammation, wound haemorrhage, incisional hernia and wound infection. The search identified 21 RCTs in kidney transplantation, 3 RCTs in heart transplantation and 1 RCT in liver transplantation. The analysis has now been completed and a report is being prepared for publication.
