Hypothermic Oxygenated machine Perfusion of the Pancreas (HOPP)

HOPP logo

The HOPP study will investigate the role of ex-vivo oxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion (HMPO2) of the solid-organ pancreas prior to transplantation.

The study is an IDEAL stage 1 prospective study of HMPO2 in 30 adult recipients of deceased donor simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplants. The focus of the study is to demonstrate safety of the perfusion protocol, and study participants will be compared to historic controls.

The study is funded by the NIHR i4i scheme, and supported by the NHSBT Clinical Trials Unit. It is currently in set-up.
